(Only Be Afraid Of Standing Still)

Money is a means of expressing your will. You are financially healthy to the extent that you have enough money to get what you need for your growth and development and to maximize your potentials. You are financially unhealthy if you spend all your time trying to make your ends meet. You may survive the ordeal, but chances are that you will compromise your potential.

How much money you need is dependent on how much of your will you want to express. If you are a quiet, “mind my business” kind of person, chances are that you need very little, beyond what meets your basic needs. In that case it should suffice to have a good job, pay the bills and put away the extras for when you need it. On the other hand, if you’re out to change the world, you would probably need much more money. In that scenario, you may have to do better than a good job.

Life, in itself, expands. The mere act of living means more things are created or acquired. The child starts out at a mere eight pounds but weighs 160 pounds by adolescence. His mind comprehends very little at first, but grapples with complex issues of morality and justice by adolescence. A single idea brings more ideas, one fact brings more facts, one talent; more talents. Therefore life expands. Life makes children know more, learn more, and be more. In order to know and do, and be more; they must have more. They must have things to use, because they can only learn and be more by having the resources that make that possible. The child needs meals to nourish his body, a nice home where he thrives in love and care and play toys that challenge and educate his mind. Since it is inherent in nature that life becomes more, the resources to support life are also inherent in nature.

Wealth supports life. Since life is natural, being wealthy is the natural state of living. Poverty is an anomaly. Those who believe that it is modest, altruistic or noble to be poor had better think again. They waste their chance at fully expressing their lives on earth. There are certainly many virtues in being able to endure poverty, but invariably takes away from the potential of your existence. If you have to work hard just to stay alive, you are likely to be stunted. It is the nature of things that you live in abundance, for only abundance can support the growth of your potentials.

Note that living abundantly does not mean flagrant materialism or sensual orgies. No; that would be detrimental to life. Living abundantly means the expression of your full potentials—spiritual, emotional, and mental—in pursuit of truth and the ennoblement of humankind. To be successful at this you need money to buy the time and space that make things possible. You need to be wealthy.

Children demonstrate the impact of wealth. They thrive in those circumstances where their goods and services have been paid for. Free from the distraction of having to fend for themselves, all their activities are aimed at self-development. The same applies to the adult. If you didn’t have to work so hard just to stay alive, you would engage in activities that ennoble you and humankind. We begin to care about the general good when we have secured our own survival.

To be in a situation equivalent to a child that is well cared for, you have to have been born wealthy or create your own abundance. You have to be able to buy enough time and space for full-expression. You need a well paying job with a flexible time commitment, or a personal endowment with a passive stream of income.
The adult who has enough money to meet his needs, with time/space to facilitate his personal development is financially healthy.

There are two basic laws of building wealth from scratch.
• Earnings – expenses = savings
• Savings x time = wealth (asset)
Making it Happen
• Develop a Mindset for Wealth – get used to the fact that having enough to maximize your potentials is the natural state of things.
• Reason – your mindset for wealth should start with a reason and the best reason is to be the best you can be! Be clear as to why you want to be wealthy.
• Understand Your Attitude to Money – because it expresses your will you have an emotional attachment to it. How you deal with various aspects of your life reflects how you also deal with money.
• Life Is a Labor Market, Aim for High Earnings – the laws of supply and demand apply. You are valued depending on what you have to sell.
• Build Assets Early – High pay leads to high earnings. High earnings with responsible spending lead to assets. Assets before the toys!
• Be Aware of Time – time is of the essence. It is the most important element of wealth building. Modest savings over a long period of time results in significant wealth whereas reaching your target within a shorter period of time you will need large earnings and little expenditure. Time is the least expensive but most wasted human asset it is also not renewable.
• Be Happy in Your Work
• Invest in People
• Be Clear as to What Money is and Isn’t – Money has no inherent meaning, other than what we attach to it. Money is not good or evil; it is neutral.
• Beware of Money Doublers – people fall for scams because they do not take the laws of nature seriously. Effort must precede reward. There is no other way!
• The Natural Laws of Money – natural rhythms – ebb and flow – also apply to economies; national corporate, or personal. Gravity works as well on a stock market as it does on a stone –what goes up must come down. Take advantage of the good times and be optimistic in the bad times. The law of motion ensures that in money, as in life, everything is in transition; good as well as bad financial times.

Enjoy the podcast and I also added my email response below.
QUESTION: How do you know if your baby has gas?

ANSWER: Everyone has “gas” in the intestine because various gases are a normal byproduct of some fermentation that invariable takes place in the gastrointestinal tract. On occasion, gaseous distention is visible on x ray.

QUESTION: How do you prevent gas?

ANSWER: To prevent gas you have to know the causes. The most common cause in an otherwise healthy child is air swallowed during feeding, especially when they do so quickly with large breast milk letdowns. To prevent this, feed the child for short periods and burp frequently. Certain foods are more gas producing for particular individuals because they are incapable of full digestion of such foods leading to partial fermentation and gas production. Avoid such foods when identified in those individuals.

QUESTION: Do herbal products such as Biogaia work?

ANSWER: I don’t know. I don’t use them.

QUESTION: Should we introduce probiotics before we even start solids?

ANSWER: No. To the best of my knowledge, there is no current evidence to support that practice.
